The short version
- What you make is yours. We claim no rights in your footage or videos.
- No account needed for the free plan. Montaj Hub and Studio need one.
- Cancel any time. Paid plans renew until you cancel, and Stripe bills them.
- Hub templates are for your videos, not for sharing or resale.
- Use it fairly. Only on content you have the right to use, and do not share your account.
- Keep backups. Montaj is provided as it is.
Agreeing to these terms
These terms are between you and ByCrux LLC ("we", "us"). Using Montaj means you accept them, along with our Privacy Policy. You must be at least 13, and old enough where you live to make this agreement. These terms apply whether or not you have an account.
Your account
You can use the free plan without an account. Montaj Hub and Montaj Studio need one. If you create one, give us a real email address and keep your sign-in safe. You are responsible for what happens under your account; tell us promptly if you think someone else has got in.
Your plan can be used on a limited number of computers at once. Signing in on one more signs out the one you used longest ago.
Plans and billing
Montaj has a free plan and two paid plans, Montaj Hub and Montaj Studio. Paid plans are billed monthly or yearly at the price shown at checkout, and renew until you cancel. Studio includes a set number of seats, and extra seats are billed at the price shown at checkout.
Montaj Hub offers a free trial once per account. A card is needed to start it and you are not charged until the trial ends; cancel before then and you pay nothing.
Paid plans are sold and billed by Stripe, the merchant of record. Stripe is who you pay, handles any sales tax or VAT, and sends your receipts. ByCrux LLC provides the software and everything else in these terms.
Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period you paid for. Payments are not refunded unless the law where you live requires it. If we change a price, we will tell you before it applies to your next renewal. When a paid plan ends, your account moves to the free plan. The editor and your projects keep working; Hub and Studio features stop.
Your content
What you make in Montaj is yours. Your footage, project files and exports stay on your computer. We do not receive them and claim no rights in them.
You are responsible for having the rights to what you edit and publish, including music, footage and likenesses.
Anything you save in Montaj Hub, such as your niche, ideas, scripts and captions, is yours too. You let us store and process it only to run Montaj for you, including sending it to the AI provider that runs trend research.
AI features
AI can get things wrong. Check what it produces before you publish it.
If you connect your own AI assistant or add your own API keys, you use that provider under your own agreement with them. Their terms apply to what it does, any charges are between you and them, and that traffic does not pass through us.
Montaj Hub
Trend briefs are written by AI from public web pages. They can be wrong, out of date or incomplete. Check the linked sources before you rely on an idea. Those pages belong to their owners; a link is not an endorsement, and we are not responsible for what they say.
Hub templates, including their recipes, motion styles, overlays, fonts and images, belong to us or our licensors. While your subscription is active, you may use them in videos you make with Montaj, for yourself or for clients, and you may publish and sell those videos. You may not copy, share, resell or redistribute the templates themselves, or extract them for use outside Montaj.
When your subscription ends, Hub templates are no longer available in the app. Projects you already started keep what was copied into them, and videos you already made stay yours.
Montaj Studio
The owner of a Studio organization is responsible for its members and for what they share. Reviewers you invite do not need a paid seat.
Only share an export on a review link if you have the right to. Anyone with the link can view it. Review links are for feedback, not public distribution, and we may remove an uploaded export after the retention period in our Privacy Policy.
What you may not do
- Break the law with Montaj, or use it to harm, harass, deceive or impersonate anyone.
- Edit or publish content you have no right to use.
- Attack the service: probing, overloading, or trying to reach other people’s accounts.
- Share, resell or get around the limits of your plan.
- Copy, share, resell or redistribute Hub templates or their recipes.
- Use Montaj Hub to collect or republish other people’s content in bulk.
- Reverse-engineer the app to bypass its subscription checks.
Ending it
You can stop using Montaj and cancel at any time, and ask us to delete your account at hello@bycrux.com. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or when the law or security requires it. Except in urgent cases, we will tell you why.
Third-party software
Parts of Montaj are third-party software that comes with its own terms, listed in the app. Those terms govern those parts; these terms cover the rest, including Montaj Hub and Studio.
Microsoft runtime (Windows)
The Windows app includes Microsoft Visual C++ runtime files (Microsoft Corporation). You may use them only as part of the app. You may not modify them, extract them for use apart from the app, or reverse engineer them, except as law allows. Microsoft disclaims all liability to you for them, and they are provided as-is. You may not use Microsoft's name or trademarks in a way that suggests endorsement. These terms protect them at least as much as Microsoft's own license terms.
No warranty
Montaj is provided "as is". We work to keep it running well, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or free of errors, and features may change. Keep your own backup of anything you cannot afford to lose.
Limit of liability
As far as the law allows, ByCrux LLC is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost footage, profits or goodwill. Our total liability is limited to what you paid for Montaj in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that the law does not let us limit.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. The state and federal courts in King County, Washington have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, and you and ByCrux LLC both agree to that venue.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top will change, and we will tell you directly if a change is significant. Using Montaj after that means you accept the new version.
